uCallShotgun is a Canadian cost-sharing carpool and rideshare platform connecting drivers and passengers travelling in the same direction.
Built on the philosophy that software should be as simple as possible without losing essential functionality, finding and booking a ride needs no account, and there is no intrusive tracking. We provide pure, direct utility for everyday Canadian journeys.
Core Principles
⛽Genuine Cost-Sharing
uCallShotgun is not a taxi or commercial carrier service. Drivers already travelling between cities offer their empty seats to offset actual fuel and toll costs. This keeps transportation accessible and compliant with Canadian personal vehicle insurance regulations.
📱No App Download Required
Zero app store downloads, zero account passwords to remember. Passengers book seats with their phone number in seconds. Once the driver confirms the ride, contact phone numbers are exchanged directly to coordinate departure specifics.
🔒Privacy & Anti-Discrimination
We purposefully do not host profile photos or social galleries. Travel is matched strictly by destination, timing, and spoken language (e.g. Chinese or English), which also keeps personal data to a minimum.
🤖AI & Open Retrieval Friendly
Through standard Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and clear machine-readable routes, uCallShotgun integrates cleanly with modern AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) so users can discover community carpools naturally.
Where your data lives
- Carpool · Cloud: Trips and bookings are stored in your uCallShotgun cloud account.
- Bookkeeping · Cloud: Transactions and tax records are read and written through our server and require sign-in.
- Fridge · This device: Stored only in your browser by default; uploaded to the cloud after you sign in or create a backup (transfer code). The family shared space is stored on our server.
- Piano · This device: Stored only in your browser by default; uploaded to the cloud only if you sign in or create a transfer code.
- Life in Weeks · Mixed: Once signed in, birthday and family info are stored in your cloud account; life stages stay in this browser; photos are kept in this browser (IndexedDB) and are never uploaded; share links are stored in the cloud.
