Terms of Service

Effective date: June 15, 2026

By using uCallShotgun and its utility tools you agree to the terms below. Please read them before posting, booking a trip, or using our tools.

1. The platform's role

uCallShotgun is an information-matching and utility platform: for ridesharing, we only display trip information and help drivers and riders make contact. We do not provide transport, are not a carrier or a transportation network company (TNC), and take no part in and do not supervise any actual ride.

2. Cost-sharing vs. Optional AI digital credits

All amounts shown in the carpool section are ridesharing cost-sharing (a suggested split of travel costs such as gas and tolls), not fares or commercial charges. The platform handles no rideshare money; amounts are settled between driver and riders offline. Optional AI credits purchased for utility assistants are digital technical services billed through Stripe, strictly distinct from carpool matching.

3. Tax & Bookkeeping Helper Disclaimer

The bookkeeping, OCR receipt scanning, and tax helper features are intended solely for personal record-keeping and estimation. They do not constitute professional accounting (CPA), legal, or tax advice. Users remain entirely responsible for verifying source receipts and ensuring full compliance and accuracy of their tax filings with revenue agencies (e.g. CRA / IRS).

4. Identity and account

  • ·The platform uses your phone number as identity — there is no mandatory password. Keep your phone and device secure; anyone who knows your number may look up or cancel your bookings.
  • ·Please make sure the information you provide (name, car model, trip, bookkeeping records) is true and accurate.

5. Driver responsibilities

  • ·Hold a valid driver's licence and keep your car insurance current and covering the carrying of companions.
  • ·Follow local traffic laws, do not exceed seating or load limits, and stay responsible for vehicle safety.
  • ·Carry companions only for cost-sharing, not as a for-profit passenger service.

6. Safety and limitation of liability

  • ·Ride safety is the responsibility of the driver and riders. Please read the Safety Tips before travelling.
  • ·As the platform takes no part in the transport, to the maximum extent permitted by law it is not liable for personal injury, property loss, disputes, or any consequences arising during a ride.
  • ·The platform is provided “as is,” with no guarantee of absolute accuracy of information or uninterrupted service.

7. Acceptable use

  • ·Do not harass or defraud others, and do not post false or unlawful information.
  • ·Do not scrape or bulk-collect platform data, or interfere with the platform's normal operation.
  • ·The platform upholds anti-discrimination principles and neither provides nor permits filtering based on race or ethnicity.

8. User responsibility and indemnification

  • ·You are solely responsible for the truthfulness of the information you post and for your conduct during a ride.
  • ·To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify the platform against third-party claims, losses, or costs arising from your breach of these terms, the information you provide, or your conduct during a ride.

9. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the applicable laws of the place where the platform operator is established and where you reside. Nothing here removes or limits mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under local law (including, in Quebec, under the Consumer Protection Act and the Charter of the French Language). If a dispute arises, please contact us first at the email below and we will try to resolve it.

10. Changes to the terms

We may update these terms from time to time; significant changes will update the effective date at the top of the page. Continued use means you accept the updated terms.
